Human Resources Generalist (Warrenville, IL)

Human Resources Duties and Responsibilities

The human resources position will be responsible for all hiring duties. They will recruit, onboard, and guide all employees through the benefits and compensation process while complying with all local, state, and federal regulations for HR. The ideal candidate will be organized, experienced, and a dedicated strategist and planner.


  • Recruit and interview potential applicants on experience, skills, and education
  • Update job requirements when needed
  • Contact applicants' references and performs background checks
  • Organize and manage new employee orientation, onboarding, and training programs including grant proposals
  • Pursue training and leadership development programs for all employees including grant proposals
  • Explain and provide information on employee benefits, programs, and education
  • Advise on benefit needs or evaluate benefit contract bids
  • Covers all legal and ethical compliance for human resource federal, state, and corporate requirements
  • Maintain employee records and paperwork
  • Take part in all annual reviews and support employees toward reaching their goals
  • Promote an open door policy and spend time in all areas daily, supporting every department
  • Represent employer in the community and recruiting events
  • Answer employee questions and address employee concerns with the company; including employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health
  • Sometimes manage committees on wellness, training, health, safety, culture, and communications
  • Regular communication with headquarters to ensure similar practices as appropriate
  • Plan company events for team building
  • Participate in monthly all-company meetings


Human Resources Requirements and Qualifications

  • HR applicants require a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field, or extensive prior experience in human resources
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in a human resources position
  • Possess superb written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship-building and employee coaching skills
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), Excel, and demonstrated skills in database management and record-keeping
  • Organized and efficient in daily tasks
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred
  • General knowledge of employment laws and best practices
